The Sport Pilot certificate is the quickest and most affordable path to becoming a licensed pilot. It allows you to fly Light-Sport Aircraft in good weather during daylight hours — a perfect option for recreational flying with fewer requirements than a Private Pilot certificate.

Eligibility Requirements

Be at least 17 years of age (16 to solo)
Hold at least a US Driver's License (FAA medical not required if you have a valid US driver's license)
Read, write, speak, and understand English

Flight Requirements

Flight Training Requirements

20 hours of flight time minimum
15 hours of dual instruction
5 hours of solo flight time
2 hours of cross-country flight training
1 solo cross-country flight (50 nm minimum)
